The Gateway is the central data collection point which gathers and stores meter reads from the individual meters onsite utilizing Next Century Transceivers.  The Gateway is typically located in a secure area with access to ethernet or cellular communications.  Most sites require only one Gateway, which can handle up to 2500 transceivers or metering points.
